Poor neuromuscular control under different conditions, directions and pressures lead to fatigue-zones in muscles and ligaments; which eventually fail with simple, repetitive movements, creating back pain.
This is because the stretch receptors become desensitised in prolonged sitting – the body moves into injury-prone zones without the usual “stretch warning” that has our body tighten muscles and protect the back. This can be felt as a sudden “pop” in the back with movement, or pain and muscles spasms.
Rehabilitation must have manipulation, exercise and stretch to best repair the problem.
